Watch out New Zealand... Jill's Driving

Okay so I found a way I can share my latest music CRAVES with you! At the end of my posts I will leave you all off with a video to spice up 3 minutes of your day! Ooo ahh exciting! I know. haha.

Anyways lets see here... what is new? what is new?

All I can think about at the moment is my job status. As you know, I applied for a job at a local gym in Hamilton as a club marketer and promoter! I know it sounds pretty boring aye, but the past two interviews I had there went GREAT! Anyways, I'm just trying to hold my ground until I hear back. Let's hope all goes well.

Other than that, life has been pretty wonderful. Don't even get me started on the unbelievable weather we have had here! Its SUMMERtime folks! hahah Yus! My first summer in winter and that means... my first Christmas BBQ, New Years Eve camp out, and January without snow. It's going to be strange, but I'm definitely looking forward to it here!

Lets see what else is new? I'm going to list off a few just for convinience purposes (pure laziness):

-Cam and I went on a hunt for Pumpkins around Rotorua. Came out slightly successful, I guess. haha. They're pumpkins are white and much smaller than the massive orange ones we have back home :(. Take a look! Mines is of New Zealand and the southern cross on the right.

-I also learned how to drive a manual car... on the LEFT side of the road! haha, 2 accomplishments in one.
-On one of the sunny days we had here in RotoVegas, Cam taught me how to throw a rugby ball and introduced me the drums. Still rest on the fact that I am musically challenged. hah. Obviously didn't receive any instrument comprehension from my dad. Thankkssss
-OOoo and I baked proper eggs benedict! Yum!

I'm sure much more has happened, but thats all I can get my hands on at the moment! Good Nite Folks!
xx

Enjoy the TUNES!

Where do you go- Sister Hazel lyrics

I'm not so sure anymore what's next
Or if there's anything left for us
What will we find inside of the wreck
Yeah we both know it's all just washed away

Where do you go and what do you do
All you have left is hanging on you
Where do you go and what do you do
When you lose everything you ever knew

Shine a light into it
Shoot a canon through it
Spill it all and hope you find a way to make it through it
'Cause down is up and up is down
And love lies dying all on the ground
You find a line that's in the sand and figure out who drew it...

Just gotta figure out my next step here!

Home-sickle

I'm getting my fist case of the home-sick illness here in New Zealand. Even though I am surrounded by love from awesome friends family, it still doesn't suit my comfort level. And I thought independence came easy in the States... well it’s a little more difficult when you don’t have your ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ phone life line. Getting a job, flat, car or bike, bank account, furniture, etc is not as simple as I thought. haha.

You get to a point after traveling a long time, when you become exhausted from assimilation and proper culture correction. Let me be me. Let me be an American, from the east coast, from little old Wilmington North Carolina or Annapolis Maryland. You crave those COMFORT places, foods, people, and routines. Not JANDALS or

SLIPPERS, they are called “flip flops” people!

Heres some more so that you can see what I mean:
NZ term _______________ USA
Lollies Candy
Boot/Bonnet Trunk and Hood of car
Tea Dinner
Biscuit Cookies
Capsicum Green/Red/Yellow Pepper
Trolley Shopping Cart
Fizzy Soda
Lemonade Sprite
Kumura Pumpkin
Jersey Sweatshirt
Plasters Bandaid

Well I hope you catch my drift now! That’s only a few of the tiny conversation changes I must make. It’s a bit irritating after awhile.
Hahah. I think I will live though. Just maybe. Haha.

Well let me backtrack… ‘what else is new in Jill’s life?’ Oh right. My job interview! It went really well. It was at brand new fitness facility in Hamilton, called ‘Flex Fitness’. I would fill the position as a sales and marketing consultant. The title doesn’t really do it justice though. What they are really looking for is a person who thinks creatively and is highly driven and self motivated. They need someone who would set up tents at sporting events, approach businesses, and thinks of new ways to promote their facility and gain memberships. I think I’ve got the creativity end of it, the rest would need some work though. Heres the website if you’re interested http://www.flexfitnessgym.co.nz/ .. And I’m still waiting to hear back from other jobs. So we’ll see what happens. I’ll need something soon here, before I go CraZy!

That’s pretty much all I can think of at the moment!

Take it easy yo,
Jilly

Rotovegas-n' it

Hey There,
Life's been Grand here in Rotorua. Still hanging out until I get the job and flat business on way. 2 Job Apps down... who knows how many more to come.

I'd like to inform you, I've decided to take upon a new hobby... (drum roll please)
WINE tasting!

haha I'm definitely no connoisseur yet, however I will be one day.
Gotta start young aye. So if I have tried anything new, I will share my thoughts with you. Maybe even learn to create a tab for that if I get a chance.

Misson- MERLOT- Hawkes Bay, New Zealand: delicious! my favorite thus far. I was lucky

Selaks- MERLOT- Hawkes Bay, New Zealand: sweeter than Misson's version, still pretty decent for the price. haha and glad to say no hangover! Plus +

3 Stones- Shiraz- Southeast Australia: had a nice little tang to it. I'm not very familiar with the types of wine, yet, but this was a nice pick by Cameron! haha, went perfectly with my block of Dark Chocolate.

Okay, thats all folks! Don't wanna seem like too much of an alcoholic here.
To be fair, I'm taking it easy tonight on a warm cuppa chai tea. My stomach, Megan, (if u haven't met her noisy button yet) is very happy with my decision tonight. This afternoon she had such a tantrum. After my delicious bowl of creamy southwestern soup from Abracadabra, a cool exotic coffee/lunch bar in Rotorua, she wasn't too thrilled. Again, I would like to thank my mum and dad for that lactose-intolerance. haha. nevermind that I'm rambling on again. Just glad I survived that episode earlier. Recovery included: a meannn bubble bath, ginger beer (similar to ginger ale), yummy dinner by chef Cameron, and this chai tea I've got beside my computer here.

Just watching the New Zealand music awards with Cam, Anna, and Justin (Anna's bf) and kickin it. Tomorrow will be sweet-as! We're headed to Tauranga and 'The Mount' on the east coast to visit their Auntie visiting from AUS! Well, better go kids. Being anti-social again here!

Peace x

Chiquita Hat Wonderland

Once again, I must apologize for my absence on the blogging world. Man that sounds dorky. It’s hard to stay in tune across two countries, especially when suckering into my computer screen is always the last choice on my expeditions. I wouldn’t have any pictures or interesting topics to write about if I took that road. So this will be the last time I will say sorry kids.

So my travels up until have taken me across a good half of the US, up through the volcanic mountain ranges in the Hawaiian islands and back to the green rolling paddocks of New Zealand. Pretty good, aye! Hah, Life is awesome at the moment! No school, work, or rent to pay. However, as charming as that life sounds, it’s still missing the marshmallows in my bowl of Lucky Charms. I’m to that point where I’m eager to start working and being a semi-responsible young lady. Haha. To be fair, I have been piling up my CV (resume) and reference list. Spotted a few jobs here and there, and actually found a room to sublease until January! Its getting there folks. Yea yea.. the real world… blah blah haha.

Hey and I forgot to fill you in on my Hawaii adventures! The islands were beautiful. Maui and Oahu had their idealistic features and to tell you the truth, I would find it difficult to chose if it came down to it. I was surprised to see a lot of landscapes that seemed out of this world. I didn’t word that very well, did I? Just many of the coves and trails had an un-earthy feel, as if I was walking through valleys on mars or in a different universe. Especially, with the treacherous ‘ah-ah’ molten lava, giant swallowing tree vines, and infectious amounts of coral covering the coastlines. Not what you’d picture when traveling to Hawaii, huh? It was honestly really cool though.

The wedding I attended was gorgeous. Picture perfect. You name it. Loads of fun. The whole week proceeding the event was filled with extreme dance parties, an all day luau, evening cocktails on the beach, hula lessons, paddle and surf board sessions, one overly loved hotel room (more like a closet or cubby), and a last minute drive up the coast of the north shore. The food was as expected, average, and a bit overpriced, but I must not include the fruit in this downfall. Hawaii is like a Chinquita hat wonderland. The islands had any type of fruit, you name it: mangos, bananas, papaya, passion fruit, guava, lemons, oranges, grapefruit, necatarines, and don’t forget their infamous DOLE pineapple. Mmmmm… If I moved there I think I would start a fruit farm and simply vege off of that. Haha. Serious.
Anways I better help Cam cook tea (dinner) here. We have visitors today! My friend Jen Huber from the states just completed a semester in Australia is over here backpacking! So excited to see her! And off to Hamilton tonight to catch up with friends.

That’s all for now folks! Now quit reading and go out n enjoy your weekend!
Aloha, Jill
